New Jersey SORA Instructor

SORA (Security Officer Registration Act) is a standardized Security guard training program that has become law in the state of New Jersey (since 2007 ).This law now requires security practitioners to register, receive state regulated training, and a background check to work as a security guard in New Jersey.

Guard Training is offered by licensed training schools, who must have SORA certified instructors. These instructors must meet the minimum of a 24-hour course for the students and administer a test at the end of the training.

The objectives of the training are to provide training in a variety of subjects directly related to the security and safety of their clients. When an organization considers the safety of its patrons and the business needs of its organization they must consider the training and capabilities of the officers they employ. The knowledge gained through this program offers exposure to fundamental concepts and principles of the security industry.

This course is applicable to all security practitioners as well as former law enforcement personnel tasked with the safety and security for businesses they serve.

Private investigators also engage in a variety of work not often associated with the industry in the mind of the public. For example, many are involved in process serving, the personal delivery of summons, subpoenas, and other legal documents to parties in a legal case. The tracing of absconding debtors can also form a large part of a PI’s work load. Many agencies specialize in a particular field of expertise. For example, some PI agencies deal only in tracing. Other PIs, also known as corporate investigators, specialize in corporate matters, including antifraud work, loss prevention, internal investigations of employee misconduct (such as EEO violations and sexual harassment), the protection of intellectual property and trade secrets, antipiracy, copyright infringement investigations, due diligence investigations, malware and cyber criminal activity, and computer forensicswork. Some PIs act as professional witnesses where they observe situations with a view to reporting the actions or lack of them to a court or to gather evidence in antisocial behavior.

Emergency management

Emergency Management is not constrained to terrorist incidents. Terrorism is one of many threats that endanger society. Within the U.S., an all-hazards approach exists regarding homeland security endeavors. In this sense, emergency management encompasses both natural disasters and man-made events. Thus, the domain of emergency management must accommodate a plethora of situations and scenarios, ranging from natural disasters (e.g., Hurricane Katrina) to acts of terrorism (e.g., Boston Marathon bombing).
